Two awards of Czech critics for Negativ
Czech critics awarded films produced by Negativ - Kristian for the best feature went to Protektor by Marek Najbrt, while Linda Jablonska's Welcome to North Korea received the award for the best documentary.
Protektor wins 6 Czech Lions
The award for Best Picture went to Protektor at the Czech Lions ceremony. The film also received trophies for Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Music. Jana Plodková was named Best Actress for her role in the film.
Cooking History nominated for the EFA Best Documentary
Documentary film Cooking History was nominated for the Best Documentary at the European Film Academy Award 2009. The winner will be presented on December 12 in Bochum.
Czech Republic submits Protektor for Oscars
Czech Film Academy has chosen Protektor as Czech foreign-language Oscar submission this year. Oscar nominations will be annouced on February 2, 2010.
Protektor opens on September 24
Marek Najbrt's second feature Protektor, starring Jana Plodková and Marek Daniel, will be released theatrically in Czech theatres on September 24, 2009. It is a drama set in Prague during World War II following a radio host who collaborates with the Nazis to save his Jewish wife.
Hot Docs Awards Cooking History
Cooking History, a documentary film by Peter Kerekes, received the Special Jury Prize at the international documentary film festival Hot Docs in Toronto.
