Alois Nebel selected for Venice festival

Alois Nebel, directed by Tomas Lunak combining animated and feature film techniques, has been selected for the main programme of the prestigious International Film Festival in Venice to be held on August 31-September 10.

KATKA awarded with Czech Lion

Helena Trestikova‘s Katka received the Czech Lion (Cesky lev) award of the Film and Television Academy for the best Czech documentary in 2010.

Documentary KATKA premieres in US at MoMA Feb 26 & 27

The annual non-fiction film and media festival Documentary Fortnight organized by Museum of Modern Art in New York presents the U.S. Premiere of KATKA, the latest feature documentary by Helena Trestikova, the grand dame of Czech non-fiction cinema. Her last three feature films create a trilogy of portraits filmed over extremely long time periods. All three were released theatrically in the Czech Republic - MARCELA in 2007, RENE in 2008, and KATKA in 2010 – the last becoming the highest grossing non-fiction film in the country.

Katka brings two awards from Montréal

Documentary film Katka by Helena Trestikova received two awards at RIDM, Montréal International Documentary Festival. The film won the DocTape Award in the competition of another 18 documentaries and Jakub Hejna received the award for best editing. Katka will continue its festival tour in 2011, competing at film festivals in Sweden, Finland, Poland and Germany.

Two awards of Czech critics for Negativ

Czech critics awarded films produced by Negativ - Kristian for the best feature went to Protektor by Marek Najbrt, while Linda Jablonska's Welcome to North Korea received the award for the best documentary.
